Born in Paisley and educated at Johnstone High School. David is a graduate of the part time course at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow. Graduating as the “Joe Park” prize winner in 1999. A founding member of G5 architecture & design Limited in December of 2005 he has over 23 years of experience in architectural practice, principally in the design and construction of affordable housing developments for public sector clients. David has worked in architectural practice since 1986 from the age of 17, starting as a trainee architectural technician in a small private practice in Paisley. From 1988 – 91 he worked in private practice in Edinburgh and Glasgow, gaining experience in hospitals, commercial, retail and industrial building types. |

Working at Fraser Brown Newman from 1991-2005 he worked predominantly on residential master-planning of social housing and small community buildings and was project leader on many large refurbishment and new build housing projects, in Castlemilk, Easterhouse, Cranhill, Blackhill, Drumchapel, Paisley, Johnstone. The largest project being Petersburn in Airdrie, which was constructed in several phases – at a project cost £16.5m, making it, at the time, the largest volume procurement project in Scotland. Joining The John Russell Partnership in March 2005 David worked on industrial building types and led the design work on a 42 storey mixed use tower in the heart of the regeneration of the east End of Glasgow. In his role at G5 David has been responsible for a number of feasibility and development studies both in the UK and Internationally as well as developing a good core of housing, industrial, leisure, retail and commercial design. |
